Most Expensive Comic Books – Suspense Comics #3 became the most valuable non-superhero comic book in 2015 when it sold for $173,275. Released in 1944, shop keepers decided not to stock it, due to its offensive cover, which featured a woman about to be attacked by hooded assailants bearing swastikas. As a result, copies are scarce today which is why this comic book is now one of the most expensive comic books in the world!

Spider-Man is, in many ways, the hero that changed it all. Unlike the billionaire playboys in their skyscrapers, or the gods and aliens with the power to move mountains, Peter Parker was a fifteen-year-old boy with regular problems when he gained superpowers. This guy was relatable. He was bullied, but couldn’t fight back because he could beat up the whole football team without breaking a sweat. He had homework, which he had to fit in around his crimefighting. He also had loss. His pain from losing his parents, and the guilt he carried due to failing to stop a criminal who later killed his uncle, made him feel more like a real person than any hero before him. As the character aged, he became an experienced and respected hero. But the challenges he faced also grew. His enemies were no longer content to merely fight him, they went after his friends and family too. His nemesis Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin even murdered his girlfriend Gwen Stacey, a watershed moment that is the beginning of the modern age of comics.

Released just a few weeks ago on AWA Upshot, The Joneses looks at a secretive suburban family that survived a global pandemic to become superhuman. Launching off from J.M. Stracynski and Mike Deodato’s ‘The Resistance’, The Joneses follows the events of the “Great Death, as a mother, father, sister and brother were all transformed into ‘Reborns’. While the world embraces fascism born of fear in the wake of the pandemic and the rise of superheroes, the Joneses must figure out whether they’ll stand up to injustice or remain hidden. While it sometimes shares the same plot elements as The Incredibles movie, the Joneses isn’t for kids. Writer Michael Moreci and artist Alessandro Vitti deliver a sleek modern comic that’s intriguing, timely, and dark. The Joneses is a five-book miniseries and issue #2 is expected to drop soon.
